Weekday Evening and Weekend Sitting Service

Unlike an Internet based service where any individual can post themselves as available, with no confirmation of background, experience or references, the Agency weekend and evening "sitters" are personally interviewed and extensively screened just as any long-term caregiver we place. The service was developed in 1992 as a result of requests from many parents. We heard from many clients, "Your professional caregivers are exceptional, won't you please also provide exceptional sitters" ...and we did! Our "sitters" are located throughout the metro Boston area.

For the same rates charged by sitters posted on an Internet site, with In Search of Nanny's "sitters" you will have the comfort level of knowing they are who they say they are and you will also know they agreed to be thoroughly screened according to our impeccable standards. Even if a sitter will care for your children for only an occasional evening, she will be unsupervised. An occasional sitter should not be screened any less; in fact, the occasional sitter should be screened more thoroughly.

The caregivers listed are experienced and motivated and all have considerable experience working with children as teachers, graduate education students, nurses and mothers. They are all exceptional role models for children and just as all our referred caregivers, we would not be representing them unless we would feel comfortable having them care for our own children.

For an annual fee, we provide an updated listing three times a year.

  • Each list includes name, location, phone contact, and availability for that four month period, and the ages of children they have cared for in the past
  • We encourage you to contact the Agency and ask us to provide detailed information about any caregiver including background and experience before you make a call
  • We can also save you time and direct you to the most appropriate "sitter" based on your required hours and your children's needs

A goal of the service, when calling with just a few days notice, is that you will be able to contact a caregiver who will meet your needs by making only a call or two.
